Hospitality, and particularly the operation of hotels, requires the involvement of many different fields of industrial specialisation. These include corporate, commercial, real estate and construction, information technology and intellectual property, employment, insurance and finance. At GVTH, we provide a multi-disciplinary service drawing upon the experience of the firm's specialists to provide an in-depth understanding of the hotel industry.

Over the last twenty years, we have advised clients on the acquisition and leasing of properties for hotel and leisure purposes. We have assisted clients (both operators and owners) through the negotiations of various pre-opening and technical services agreements as well as on management/operating agreements and franchises. We have steered complex transactions involving residential components within the leisure resort area and have assisted in the marketing and sale of residences in fractional ownership and those included in vacation exchange programmes.

Due to the complexities of the relationships involved in the hospitality sector, disputes are not uncommon. Whilst favouring the amicable settlement and resolution of such disputes, we have assisted clients in presenting submissions before expert determination. Members of the firm have also acted as legal counsel in estimable arbitration proceedings, particularly those resulting from the unilateral termination of hotel management agreements.
